Advantages of having a private brand on amazon

Dropshipping was and still is a very profitable business on Amazon. This is the reason why almost 23% of all online sales are fulfilled through the dropshipping model translating to $85 million. But you know whats more interesting? Having your own brand to sell on Amazon. This is the reason why a lot of sellers are not only creating their own brands but are even acquiring brands. There are a lot of advantages of having your own brand:

Loyal customers:

Around 20 years back, a customer had purchased a product of a brand called “Herbal Concepts”. Fast forward to 2022, that same customer was looking for the same brand on amazon and even mentioned the same in a review on Amazon. This is the power of loyalty. Customer loyalty is not towards a product. It is towards a brand. A brand which they relate to and trust. This is why brands have more repeat customers in comparison to dropshippers.

Scalability:

Once a brand has gained loyal customers, they can introduce a new range of products. For this they already have a ready audience to get early feedback for the new range of products. There is also a really high chance of customers buying those products, since they trust the brand. A brand allows you to scale your business and pivot when needed.

Advertising:

It might seem weird but advertising and branding go hand in hand. If you want to have good advertising campaigns, you will need to be completely clear about your brands vision and the ideal customers. This in turn will be reflected in your campaigns.

Selling outside Amazon:

Time to address the elephant in the room. With over 300 million active users on amazon, it makes no sense not to sell on amazon. But this also means that your are dependent on amazon. In case tomorrow Amazon decides to delist your products, you’ll be in a very critical situation. Having a brand mitigates this risk. Having a trusted brand means your customers will buy products from your own website as well. So even if some unforeseen situation arises, you still will be selling products. Building a brand means you are directly building relationships with your customers, gaining trust and loyalty which in the long run will take your business ahead of the competition. P..S. Happy Selling.
